The National Security Strategy

Cyber crime and cyber espionage are a significant threat to governments and businesses worldwide as organised crime and hostile state organisations seek to disrupt, damage and exploit data and systems upon which increasing high-tech countries depend.

Moves toward remotely controlled and computer controlled systems have delivered major improvements in quality and accuracy whilst reducing the cost of operations by removing people from payrolls – but they are utterly reliant on the safe, secure and trusted transmission and receipt of digitised data and instructions across cabled and wireless networks.

As the scale and nature of cyber attacks continues to develop and grow, government security advisors have been agreeing a series of measures to help safeguard their critical services and supplies.

In Britain, the National Security Council has published an updated National Security Strategy outlining the threats and what it proposes to do about them.
