Some great observations here Bradley. Truth is there are many ‘leaders’ who simply don’t care about either their customers or their people. Quote of the night for me was ‘it’s no worse here than anywhere else’.
If last night helps raise the profile and value of delivering great service and awakens one or two leaders then thank you Michel and Mary. Will a Lady Gaga changing room fix service and change the culture of a business – you’d have to be gaga to believe that.
Is there a greater risk to any business than neglecting your people and your customers? Appraisals – Personal Development Plans – Mystery Shoppers – Focus Groups, sure if done well they can add value but who was it that said ‘you can’t make a pig get fatter by measuring it’. What did Mary and Michel have in common? They both cared and they both took the time to talk directly to the people who are expected to deliver customer service.
